Course Information

The Ling 6 sound test was developed by Dan Ling many years ago, to assist clinicians and parents in monitoring performance with their children's hearing aids. At the time, hearing aids were the only technology available and they had limited functioning. The test was a critical addition to the tools we had to monitor performance. However, as technology has changed, and as we learn more about speech science and auditory access it became clear that the Ling test did not provide all the information needed. The LMH (Ling-Madell-Hewitt or Low-Mid-High) test has been developed by Jane Madell and Joan Hewitt to be used by clinicians and parents as an extended screening test to better assess listening performance. This workshop discussed the LMH Test, understanding the test, why it was developed, and how to use the information obtained.
