Dr Alex Saxby

Dr Saxby is a consultant ENT surgeon and specialist otologist treating adults and children. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at Sydney University and Head of Department for Otolaryngology at the Northern Beaches Hospital.

Dr Saxby graduated from Cambridge University Medical School in the UK. After moving to Australia in 2002 he completed his surgical training in NSW and became an ENT specialist in 2011. In 2012 he underwent further specialist training in advanced ear surgery at the prestigious Fisch Microsurgery Institute in Switzerland and spent time at the Specialist Otology Hospital in France before completing a Neurotology and Otology Fellowship in Canada.

He is highly skilled in cochlear implants, bone anchored systems, middle ear implants and is actively involved in research and new technologies in these fields.

Dr Saxby was one of the first surgeons in Australia to incorporate the endoscopic approach to ear surgery in his practice when he co-founded the Sydney Endoscopic Ear Surgery Research Group (SEES). As a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at Sydney University, he is actively involved with education of ENT trainees and regularly presents at international meetings. He is also dedicated to improving indigenous ear healthcare, providing outreach ENT clinics to remote rural communities as well as setting up telemedicine clinics in Sydney.

Cholesteatoma, cochlear implantation, laser stapedotomy, myringoplasty (ear drum reconstruction), endoscopic ear surgery (keyhole approach), acoustic neuroma/lateral skull base, eustachian tube balloon dilatation.
