Course Information
Mainstream teachers will gain a deeper understanding of the characteristics and learning needs of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Participants will engage in presentations, activities and discussions about
- introduction to hearing loss
- language and literacy development
- classroom acoustics
- teaching strategies and adjustments for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- introduction to and suggestions for troubleshooting hearing devices including hearing aids, cochlear implants and remote microphones
- social and emotional development for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
