Course Information

A significant number of students with hearing loss experience challenges and difficulties with reading, despite improvements in hearing technology. In this webinar, Sharron Woolfe, Visiting Teacher of the Deaf with the Victorian Department of Education and Training, and PhD Candidate, will discuss how hearing loss can impact a student’s success with literacy through impacting on a number of key skills underlying the development of effective reading skills.

The presentation will highlight a range of assessments to help determine the cause and type of reading difficulties being demonstrated by a student with hearing loss. A range of helpful strategies, resources and approaches to support these skills will also be covered.

Outcomes:

-Teachers will leave the presentation with a deeper understanding of how hearing loss may be impacting the development of their student’s reading skills.

-Teachers will leave the presentation with strategies, resources and approaches they can implement to support their student’s reading skills.
