Cochlear implants can be a hearing solution when hearing aids are no longer enough. Despite this, we know that only 10% of people who can benefit from a cochlear implant have one.

Now, a paper has been published offering consensus on the minimum standards for considering cochlear implants for adults. Authored by over 30 experts the paper represents over 13 countries, including Australia. Australia has long been a world-leader in cochlear manufacturing and implantation.

For adults with hearing loss, the paper will continue to allow RIDBC’s SCIC cochlear implant program to work closer with audiologists to ensure more Australians can access this life-changing technology.

You can access the published paper on the JAMA Network website.
