The 2025 Itinerant Teacher of the Deaf Conference (ITOD 2025) was a unique opportunity for Teachers of the Deaf to come together to learn about new research and resources, and network together.


Keynote: The Science of Reading - Implications for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Learners

This presentation described the Science of Reading framework and instructional implications for the deaf and hard-of-hearing learner population including learners who are unimodal-unilingual, bimodal-bilingual, and unimodal-bilingual. Two approaches to phonological instruction (i.e., sound-based phonology and sign-based (fingerspelling) phonology) will be presented with specific instructional models.
