BRAILLE MATHEMATICS MADE EASY PEASY

This workshop will identify all relevant principles essential in ensuring a true understanding in braille transcription of mathematical material from Kindergarten to Year 12. It will focus specifically on the braille rules and how these are applied across the mathematical syllabuses. Concurrently the relevant braille signs will be introduced and provide a clear and comprehensive understanding of why things are brailled as they are when an almost identical item is brailled differently. That is, the impact of one rule in preference to another.

The critical ingredient in producing accurate mathematical braille production is to have a clear understanding of “WHY” things must be brailled a particular way irrespective of how complex and “difficult” the Mathematics becomes. Once the important concepts are explained and clarified, the meaning and content will become “easy peasy”!

This workshop will give ample opportunity to ask questions, addressing local issues and examples, and challenge your understanding with exciting “hands-on” the Perkins by attendees when producing numerous and typical examples. Please bring your braille device along!
